Easy HTML Reports for Rational Asset Manager

January 5, 2009

Rational Asset Manager provides the ability to create report data URLs that when invoked in a browser generate XML documents.  The report data returned is based on query parameters passed in the URL.  The data returned can be formatted into a easy to read report.   In previous blog posts we described a variety of report formatting technologies that could be used. You can use Birt or other reporting tools to display RAM reports like using Microsoft Excel worksheets. In this Webcast and samples below, I describe how you can use HTML and JavaScript to display formatted reports.

You can download the samples and Tutorial Webcasts from the Rational Asset Manager Exchange using the links below.

    Carlos
this reporting is for asset usage. I would still like to filter down to a set of assets then be able to download the asset details, categories, attributes etc for all the assets in the search. I am not interested in making join after join for say 10 assets filtered down from the 20,000 I have now in RAM using BIRT.

Far too clumsy for upper level management who are excel gurus

    any suggestions

Hi Thomas, This is helpful.. what example decisions would upper management teams make with the data that is reported?

We are trying to understand what are the questions an upper level manager has to answer so that we can create the right reports in RAM or better include simply wizard for each area or type of report they are interested in.
