Carlos
      thanks as always

Are there any Ant scripts available that could jump start me?

Plus I am wanted to use this to query for assets by category
and attribute

thanks

Hi Thomas, Glad you like the blog. Thanks for visiting and commenting. The command line interface is built on ANT. You create script statements in a file that then get executed via ANT. To get access to sample scripts to get you started and the binaries you need to call RAM via these scripts, go to RAM Web Client, Click on Help, Extensions and download "ramclient.zip" This contains the client jars ANT needs to use WebServices to work with the RAM server. It also has the sample XML scripts to publish, retrieve or update assets.

You can Fast Forward in this demo to see how we are using these scripts to retrieve approved binaries out of RAM for a build process but also publishing back builds and their dependencies on other asset components in RAM. You need to also have Ant Installed. If I have time I will post a tutorial on this.

Carlos
I am very interested in using the Client API support for asset operations from the command line. This would allow me to easily demonstrate the abilities of RAM.

One example would be show all the Asset or an attribute for a particular category schema leaf

Where is this Command line interface? I cannot find it :-(

thanks
Love this Blog

I often find when customers see the 2 products (RAM and WSRR) in a demonstration, the answer to this question immediately becomes clear. RAM manages all kinds of published asset and has a core competency for the development and assembly of software assets. WSRR focuses primarily on services and has core competencies with services and their run-time integrations.

Hi Jason. Thanks for commenting. We have gotten many requests from customers. And we are working things into our plans. Just like with all the other IBM product acquisitions.. the first release after acquisition is called "bluewash" This type of release ensures you have the right branding, support the right languages, accessibility, have removed any questionable components etc... The more customers who ask for the the integration the higher prioritization it gets.

Hi Thanks for commenting. I think your questions warrant a specific posting on this topic rather than answering as a comment. I will post on your specific question this upcoming week.

I am interested in leveraging some of the features of RAM to help manage enterprise architecture assets that we are creating in Rational/Telelogic System Architec.

I posted a thread out on developer works a while back but it has been quiet...

I got some more information on this from Gartner report. It would be nice to see a real use case addressing the importantace of both and what customers might miss out by not considering RAM in the picture.

I went through some presentations and demos showing the integration between WSRR and RAM. What I dont understand is the need for RAM and all the additional steps required to keep the service artifacts in sync between WSRR and RAM. I get the fact that one is used at dev time and the other at run time. But why do we need two places to store service artifacts/meta-data and the additional overhead in maintenance?

Why cant we use WSRR at runtime and devtime and manage service lifecycle through Lifecycle supported within WSRR? WSRR can act as a single place to store all service artifacts, manage service metadata and also manage service governance, notifications etc all in one place.

What am I missing here? I totally get the use case for WSRR, but I need some more convincing for RAM. Some of our customers feel the same.
